Koreans shed tears

During the BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference in New York today, Activision Blizzard Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tippl outlined the publisher's upcoming title and releases plans, including World of Warcraft and Starcraft II, but it seems any hope for a Diablo III release next year have been dashed.

Both Starcraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are on track for 2010, but during the conference a slide was shown that puts Diablo III's release date at "next few years" and not in 2010 as many speculated.

"Diablo III is coming along well. Blizzard has expansion packs for Starcraft II in development," Tippl said. "They have a continuous innovation plan for the Battle.Net platform, as well as an unannounced MMO to come sometime down the road.
